Karnataka Braces for Heavy Rainfall: Multiple Districts on Weather Alert

Hubballi: After a week-long hiatus, rainfall has resumed across Karnataka, prompting weather authorities to issue alerts for various regions. The coastal districts are currently under an orange alert, indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall in the coming days.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has issued a yellow alert for Chikkamagaluru, Belagavi, and Shivamogga districts, cautioning residents to be prepared for moderate rainfall.

Several other districts are also expected to experience rainfall, including Vijayanagara, Mandya, , Chamarajanagar, Kolar, Kodagu, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mysuru,  Hassan, Davangere, Chitradurga, Chikkaballapurand both rural and urban areas of Bengaluru.

Reports of rainfall have already come in from various locations across the state. Coastal areas such as Ankola, Castle Rock, and Karwar have experienced showers, as have inland regions like Bhagamandala, Agumbe, and Joida.

The meteorological department has recorded varying temperatures across different parts of Bengaluru:

  • Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL): Maximum 29.1°C, Minimum 21.0°C
  • GKVK: Maximum 30.0°C, Minimum 19.8°C
  • HAL area: Maximum 29.0°C, Minimum 20.1°C
  • City center: Maximum 28.6°C, Minimum 20.8°C

Residents are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to waterlogging or landslides. The agricultural sector is likely to benefit from this renewed spell of rainfall, although farmers are cautioned to protect harvested crops from potential damage.

Local authorities are on alert to respond to any weather-related emergencies and have advised the public to report any incidents promptly.
